Wrote an article published in the Unseen, the journal of KYHS, summer 2022. It starts by saying "We should all agree that happiness is one of the most important values in our lives". I researched how the happiness is measure around the globe and what could be improved in order to be actually useful to improve our happiness. My conclusion is rather simple. "... while measuring and monitoring the happiness level of each country is meaningful, it could be more useful when we add supplement analyses to it."

My writing in "Unseen" started in the summer of 2020 with a short essay on Smartphone addition* Essay is attached Unseen is a series of books published by Korean Youth Honor Society, KYHS. Middle and High school students conduct research and write short essays about various topics, usually current issues. My essay starts with problems of Smartphone addiction. "Not only can smartphone addiction impact one's physical health, but it can also quite directly impact the brain (page 182)" Then, I suggest multiple preventive solutions. "One efficient way that media outlets such as CNBC News recommended is to immediately delete apps and schedule times when you can use your smartphone. (page 183)" I conclude the essay by saying we need to find a balance. "Developing healthy habits while using these devices is the best way to stop people from becoming addicted to them. If people think about how much time they are spending on their phones and remember the importance of taking breaks and being present, they can create a healthy relationship." Second article on "Unseen" in the winter of 2020December 21, 2020Covid-19 hit everywhere. The number of newly confirmed cases and death toll rising everyday. The number of tests and hospitalization cases must be soaring. I wonder how people are paying for such unexpected medical costs. Is it covered by insurance or does government subsidize individuals? I conducted a research on how medical insurance systems are differ by countries and how the different plays out in the current Covid-19 situation. |
